- Historic Preservation Commission Grants
The Historic Preservation Grant Fund provides small grants to non-profit groups. Applications are made available each summer and are due in September. - Historic Preservation Easements
The National Trust for Historic Preservation offers an excellent online overview of the benefits of preservation easements. You can also learn more by visiting the easements section of the Maryland Historical Trust. - Historic Preservation Tax Credits
To encourage the restoration and preservation of privately-owned structures designated on the Master Plan for Historic Preservation either individually or within a historic district, the Montgomery County Council in 1984 passed legislation providing for a tax credit against County real property taxes.

Standards for Rehabilitation
The Secretary of the Interior, under the administration of the National Park Service, created Standards for Rehabilitation that are accepted by Montgomery County as guidelines to preserve a historic property. - Places from the Past
The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission has published a book that inventories historic sites and districts in Montgomery County. Places from the Past: The Tradition of Gardez Bien in Montgomery County, Maryland is beautifully illustrated with photographs, architectural drawings and maps.
