Planning Board and HPC Review

The Kensington Historical Society nominated the Kensington Cabin for historic designation and submitted a research form detailing the history and architecture of the resource.

Planning Board Evaluation

On December 3, 2010, the Planning Board transmitted the Planning Board Draft Amendment to the County Council. The Draft Amendment contains the Board’s recommendations for historic designation of the Kensington Cabin.

Planning Board: Public Hearing and Worksession

The Planning Board held a public hearing and worksession on October 14, 2010 to consider the Public Hearing Draft Amendment to the Master Plan for Historic Preservation: Kensington Cabin.

The Board voted unanimously to recommend that Kensington Cabin be designated on the Master Plan for Historic Preservation. The Board acted to add the resource to the Locational Atlas and Index of Historic Sites for interim protection until the resource is evaluated by the County Council.

Historic Preservation Commission: Public Hearing and Worksession

At its August 11, 2010 meeting, the HPC held a public hearing and worksession. The HPC voted unanimously to recommend Kensington Cabin be placed on the Master Plan for Historic Preservation and, as an interim measure, to be added to the Locational Atlas and Index of Historic Sites.
