Using Geographic Information Systems (GIS), our team in the Research and Technology Center maintains a variety of geographic data – from building footprints to environmental features to park boundaries – to help staff at the Planning Department and Department of Parks prepare master plans, assess park needs, review development proposals and analyze county resources. By maintaining accurate data and developing standardized tools and visual designs, our staff produces detailed geographic data in 2D and 3D.
A wide assortment of over 30 maps depicting various general areas (planning, council, zip codes, etc.) and special interest areas (rustic roads, landmarks, etc.). These maps are available in two digital formats (JPG and PDF) and range from letter size (8.5 x 11) to E-size drawings (34 x 40) for you to print at home or in your office. Montgomery County's two GIS basemaps (property and plan/topo) are available to purchase in both digital and printed form. Digital data is available on a per tile basis (WSSC tile). Printed GIS data is produced through our Mapmaker program. Just follow the menu and your custom map will be produced by one of our GIS Specialists. GIS Team maintains geographic data and supports the Department of Parks and Planning Department with mapping and spatial analysis.
