Webb Tract Mandatory Referral Review

Webb tract aerialMontgomery County Government officials are negotiating to purchase an approximately 130-acre parcel known as the Webb Tract to relocate four county facilities. The Department of General Services has proposed moving the Public Service Training Academy, the Montgomery County Public Schools Faciliity Maintenance Shop and Food Distribution Facility, and the M-NCPPC Park Maintenance Depot from the County Service Park in Shady Grove to a new location.

County officials have identified the relocation initiative as part of the county’s smart growth initiative.

The relocation project falls under the Montgomery County Planning Board's mandatory referral process for site selection and facility design, which ensures that county planners have an opportunity to review significant public projects and recommend ways to best incorporate them into their surroundings.

They will incorporate information from the public meetings in a report to the Planning Board scheduled for September 10.
