Description
The owner of the City Place mall has proposed the addition of an office tower over the existing shopping mall. The lower levels of the office building would also replace the vacant movie theaters currently on the top level of the mall. 246,588 square feet of new office space is proposed. The resulting building would be 192’ tall. No additional parking is proposed on site. A significant financial contribution would be made to amenities in the Silver Spring CBD. (Note: An office tower was approved as part of the original plans for City Place; however, that approval expired.)

Opportunities for Public Participation
The Planning Board held public hearings on the preliminary plan, project plan and site plan amendments. A minor site plan amendment will be considered in the near future to address the reconstruction of the public space at Colesville Road/Fenton Street.
