Four Corners Master Plan Highlights

Approved and Adopted (December 1996)

Overview

Challenges & Vision

The vision for Four Corners, and the challenge for this Master Plan, is to maintain the positive qualities and to enhance the areas that need improvement.

Themes

There are four Master Plan Themes around which the Plan is organized:

  1. Community and Center
  2. Transportation Network
  3. Community Facilities and Linkages
  4. Environment

Major Recommendations

  • Protect and reinforce the neighborhoods as the the foundation of the community.
  • Retain the existing commercial district boundaries and encourage clear delineation between residential and non-residential areas.
  • Support the improvements planned for the intersection of Colesville Road and University Boulevard, including the pedestrian and streetscape amenities.
  • Enhance pedestrian circulation by constructing sidewalks that will connect Four Corners neighborhoods to local services.
  • Expand the bikeway network to support the local and regional systems and enhance its value as an alternative means of travel.
  • Purchase the six-acre property at 315 University Boulevard for parkland.
